Lost A Pet?
View our Stray Animals
Remember – you must come to the shelter to look for your pet! We do not guarantee this list is complete!
If you have lost your pet within Petaluma city limits, please come in person to our shelter. When you come in, we will take a lost report, check found animal reports, and DOA listings, as well as animals taken to vets for care. We have posters available for putting up around where your pet was lost. We also recommend you contact Sonoma County Animal Care and Control; they have jurisdiction in unincorporated areas surrounding our city.
We hold our stray/lost animals for four business days, not including the day they arrive, holidays, or days we're closed, Sundays and Mondays. We post stray/lost animal information as a service, to help you find your missing pet. We make no guarantee that they will all be listed; you still need to come to our shelter. We recommend you check in two to three times a week. Don't give up! We've re-united pets and owners sometimes months after going missing! Click here for our list of stray animals.
